I’m just as old as the PC!

This year is the 25th birthday of the PC. I’m also 25 so I grew up looking at PC’s through windows. Windows are supposed to make a person see clearer and further, although when I speak to people who grow up using command lines, it doesn’t always seem like me and my generation sees better…Here is an interesting article about the 25th birthday of the PC.

Wildfire

I find it amazing how quickly information can propagate around the world these days using email. Yesterday at 11am +2GMT, only 11 hours after Zidanes World Cup Head Butt, I received the first Zidane Mortal Combat joke in my inbox. During the course of the day I received the same email 4 more times. The senders of these emails come from 3 different social circles who would not be on each others mailing lists, so it wasn’t the “same” email although it was the same email (If you understand what I mean?).

On the other hand, information stops spreading just a quickly as it started. By now everybody around the world with more than 1 contact in their email list has probably received the Zidane joke, and I suspect that I probably won’t receive any more emails today. Perhaps a horde of imitators will start spreading new Zidane jokes today?

If for some strange reason you were left out of the loop by the rest of the world and you haven’t received the joke, then check your email or send me a mail and I will forward it to you.

Lovercall

Twice this week while I was driving to work, Radio Tuks was playing a Danko Jones song. This is significant because it only takes me about 2 minutes to drive to work [1]. That’s enough time to listen to 1 or 2 songs on the radio every morning. So either this is just a coincidence or somebody at Radio Tuks is pushing a lot of Danko Jones songs onto the playlist? Either way, I’m not complaining because as it turns out, listening to Danko Jones early in the morning is a great way to start your day. It’s brain dead[2], feel good rock music and it makes you want to head bang and air guitar all the way to work! My neighbours gardener either thinks I suffer from a neck spasm or I’m angry at my steering wheel!

Another cool thing about Danko Jones is that they know you have to give in order to receive. Go to their website and download some of their feel good tunes for free. The ones I heard are both available, Lovercall and Baby hates me.

[1] I know it is unfair, my sympathies go out to all my friend who commute 2 or more hours every day.
[2] Danko Jones generally sing about woman, chicks, girls, females, their baby’s and more woman, you’ve got to love it!

Match #64

After 62 matches, Italy and France are the last two teams standing in the Soccer World Cup and once again my dream of seeing Brazil vs. Netherlands in the final hasn’t materialised. It’s difficult to choose who I prefer to win in the final match of the Cup, but I’m going to take a wild guess and say Italy 2, France 1.

After the weekend life will finally return to normal again for all soccer fans (more commonly referred to as humanity) after a month of action… except off course for cycling fans who have 2 more weeks in front of the television watching the Tour de France!
