The Last King of Scotland
A story with a similar plot to this movie is playing out right now in our neighbouring country, Zimbabwe, with the world witnessing the beating of the opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai last week. The Last King of Scotland is a movie about Idi Amin, the Ugandan dictator during the 70’s. If you’re interested in politics or history I could recommend this movie, just be warned I had to close my eyes a few times during the movie because the torture scenes were extremely graphic. Let’s just say no one in the audience left the cinema with a smile on their face.

Got the book while visiting Kampala, Uganda, on a business trip for Nokia Networks. The book was crazy, can’t wait to see the movie… These days Uganda is one of the more stable countries Africa.

the last king of scotland certainly opened my eyes to what goes on in africa on a daily basis… we hear masacre, genocide, and hardly blink an eye. perhaps we pause for a moment before carrying on with our busy introspective lives…
at the same time however, i was sickened and left shaking at the graphic detail of the torture scenes. not something i would want to subject myself to again – definitely not for the sensitive viewer!
